Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren

Sex, Sex, Sex, Sex, Sex, Sex and ... yes, you guess it, Sex!

Ok, not that I am a Nymhpomaniac or anything but I enjoy reading a good sex novel as much as the other guys, but this was understated with a pinch of overkill!

The book had it's moments, despite my initial shock that between not one, but two authors, the main characters were given their names from the Twilight Series! (yes, down to their last names).
I am pretty sure that if Stephanie Meyer had given us their middle names, it would also be listed in this story.

Whilst this story cool down a little in the end, I failed to get the love connection that shaped the book or follow the change between the two main characters.

Fist and foremost, I never really understood why they couldn't date each other, in their workplace, because afterall, it's just work, and they didn't really strike much fear into me as to what the repercussions would be. All I could see through all three hundred and twenty pages were SEX!

It wasn't even hot, earth shattering sex. It was just ... Sex! ( And I think they talk too much while having it also!)

In the end, they experimented a little from their usual sex scene, but it was a little too unrealistic also, due to the events of that last sexual encounter (c'mon ... she obviously has done this before)!!

I also didn't like the outtakes very much, I normally jump with joy when a book has outtake scenes, because whilst unnecessary for the final publishing of the book, they are usually nice little additions or a teaser if you may!

But these outtakes never even need to be written! (Except for the experiment scene, that was totally unrealistic, so really it could also stay)

I expected a love story with sex. Don't get me wrong, I expected a lot of sex, but not the amount and quality that was had in this book.

Other than the initial risque sex places, the sex was basic (once again, except for the unrealistic outtake scene)

I was disappointed and kept checking the percentage to see how far I had remaining to finish. My friends even started a countdown with me!

While this book had a few good sex scenes initially, I believe that a book written by not one but two authors should have been so much better.

I never read it when it was entitled 'The Office', but nothing anyone say can make me go back to try and like the storyline for this book.

Whilst not a complete epic fail, I've read much better.

Mediocre storyline, plagarism and Sex ... that's this book in 5 words (the only 5 it will get from me)

But, as I always say ... give it a try for yourself!

Futures and Frosting by Tara Sivec

Another funny but sub par story by Ms. Sivec ....

Yes, I had my laughs, and they were moments throughout, but still, not much drama, creativity or depth.

It's your usual love story, just way more boring, but also with a few laughs here and there

This was too sexually based, especially with a child around so frequently (No wonder he was a potty mouth)!

I still enjoyed Drew's shirts and a few of Gavin's, but this story didn't do it for me at all.

I think I stayed for the jokes I knew would come eventually, but still not enough to make me a fan.

I know I said I finish what I start, and I will (We ain't no quitter!!!), but for now, Book 3 in the series will be put on pause while I try to fire up some electricity in my brain with a good (really wishing for awesome) read!

Seduction and Snacks by Tara Sivec

Well, I do love me some chocolate!

Whilst, not the drama filled book I expected, it had it moments.

Ms. Silvec really likes and knows how to give a good laugh!

I like how real Claire's character seemed, even though she had a ridiculously unreal potty mouth 4 year old.

I was surprised at the reception to the whole storyline of losing her virginity and getting pregnant for basically a stranger.

While this book had it's moments and definite laughs, that was basically it.

The substance was little to none to say the least. I expected a little bit more emotions, but it seems the characters were on weed cause everyone was super mellow and just sexing all the time!

I liked how each character were there own person and even though it had the whole cliche coupling up thing going, I never mind it all that much. Even though it annoyed me at times.

I loved Drew's shirts and look forward to each appearance to see what he would be wearing next .. Who is Mike Hunt btw?

Anyways, with that being said, I like to finish what I started, so on to book two for me.

Hopefully then I will get a little drama. if not, I want some of what they're smoking !

Losing It by Cara Carmack

This one wasn't really for me ...

It wasn't even that comfortable of a read, I don't know if it's because the book I read before was a psychological thriller, but I just didn't feel this one.

I believe too much bits and pieces were missing. Time was going and I didn't even know it.

I get what the storyline was gonna be about, but I had hope there would be a little bit more substance and a build up in the story.

Everything felt rush and as such I didn't enjoy this one.

I however appreciated the fact that the talk of 'losing it' wasn't mentioned much throughout the book.

With that said though, there was still too much missing for me.

I found myself re-reading the shortest of dialogues (which I now realize might have been the climax, still not sure), just grasping for some excitement and drama.

Even the unwanted finding out about a secret affair, that was suppose to leave us believing they both could lose things, was just a mention.

I honestly don't think if this story was reworded, it would make a difference.

This was just a weak story that did the best it was destined to do .

Still, I always say try a thing for yourself before you can pass judgement, so if you want, you can still check it out!

Truth by Aleatha Romig

And she does it again!!

Yup! I have finally finished reading the 2nd installment in the Consequences series ...

Unlike Consequences, Truth gives Claire more of a voice and fills in a few missing pieces.

I really wished we could have gotten all the pieces in place or more pieces in place for this installment, because I feel as though we are left with too much uncertainties at the end of this one.

It's like it ended in the middle of a conversation or atleast the middle of Claire's conversation.

I never thought it was possible, but I found myself forgiving Tony (even after everything he did)!

I really wish there wasn't so much baggage between Claire and Tony and that they could just live their lives in  peace, but then Ms. Romig wouldn't have a story now would she? :)

This one brings in alot more players in the chess game and helps to clarify where the pieces fall or will eventually fall, I really can't wait for the third installment of this book that I hope will knock me out of the water and finally calm my nerves, because this book isn't called a psychological thriller for fun!

Ms. Romig is all about suspense, turn of events, unexpected fate and mind tricks that will leave you re-reading lines just to stay with the scenes.

If you haven't gotten it yet, stop waiting and go get a copy!

Consequences by Aleatha Romig

Wtf just happened!! (excuse my language)

Who is this man? Is he that brain washed? Who made him? Where is he from? What will happen to the sick bastard?!?!

Aleatha Romig has found a hit!!

It takes a genius to write a story like this!

If ever deserving a 5 star rating, this book does.

You are taken on a journey with Claire and Anthony Rawlings and their friends as well as their life before they met each other.

I always hated this term, but this book really is a mind-fuck! (once again my language)

I am damn near terrified just to read about the man, because that's how freaking scary he is!

After a couple chapters into this 50 chapter book (yes it is long) , I was glad for the quotes that preceded every chapter, so i would know if I was to be afraid or not.

I don't even know what to write about this book as I am left damn near speechless ... like wtf kind of emotional roller coaster was this?

I hate him, I love him, I am afraid of him, I am literally sweating reading some of these chapters!

I thought I would have a long killer review with the vibe I got off this killer book but I am left speechless.

All I can say is, if you are looking for a book with almost every imaginable element, THIS IS IT!

I am about to delve into book two (that it even longer) but I say this to you kids, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK ... !!!

p.s. I really hope someone cops the movie rights to this book, because it is fucking awesome!! (Once again, my language ...)

Perfection by R.L. Mathewson

As always, another delightful Neighbour from hell ....

I was  at first disappointed with Zoe's low self-esteem, but I eventually got over that along  with  Trevor's "God's gift to women"  persona.

Whilst few, I enjoyed the series of events and the character developments. I was also pleased with the incorporation of Haley and Jason as I adored those two from the 1st book in the series.

I had a couple good laughs from this book and found it to be a really well edited and executed story.

I found these two characters honesty refreshing, because whether good or bad times,     they were always bluntly honest with  other.

They were like a well oiled machine when it came to their 'arrangements'.

It was non-traditional and worked and that made it fun!

Just the sexiest man alive by Julie James

This one really threw me!

I liked  the concept and thought it was a very nice read.

I loved how it wasn't overly extravagant being based on the Hollywood scene.

The lawyer scenes were a welcomed change and while I didn't feel a strong connection between Taylor and Jason, I still saw where it was possible for them to have one if more time was allowed to pass. (I personally think the time span was rather short for any real relationships and feelings to be built)

I was also surprised that throughout the novel, the female protagonist never once contacted her family that she mentioned she was close with, especially her parents who sacrificed so much to make her where she was.
So it was strange when she made her decision without thinking about the impact it would have on them and her two best friends.

The drama level in this book was minimal to non existent, but the witty banters and self control was welcomed on my part.
Most of the characters kept themselves on a tight leash that could have gotten boring, but instead add a different element.

I love that I could go through a book about two adults without overly steamy sex scenes, and still be interested and captured.

This book isn't overly dramatic nor romance filled, but it's a good read!

Sometimes Never by Cheryl McIntyre

So ....

This one started out a little to soft for me .... totally not what I was expecting from the synopsis.

I stuck with it though, because I saw that it deal with serious issues and I normally don't mind a book that shows teens triumphing through there struggles.

I loved Hope's obsession with candy and the relationships she formed.

I find Mason to not be at all what I expected from the synopsis.

Instead of getting your usual bad boy with commitment issues, you got a big softie who supposedly have a problem with fighting (which only happened once btw ...)

I loved the character development and how Hope's issue was documented through the novel.

It was also a welcome change with regards to living in a foster home and I love how even with a vast family, everyone was given their fair share of spotlight within this model.

I also adored the relationship between Mason and his mom and how he was able to talk with her about most things.

While this book didn't get my juices flowing, it was a nice read on an Ash Wednesday, with a purpose, message and real life situations, even with a few unrealistic twists.

From Rags by Suzanne Wright

Please note, before you read this book, that Ms. Wright is every bit of the sense British!

This book could be used as a reference guide or dictionary for informal British slangs and culture

With my eclectic taste in books, I stumbled onto this one and decide to give it a try.

I'm not one for celebrity books, but this one wasn't so heavy on the whole celeb POV.

However, I still have a love hate relationship with this one.

I must admit I was never confused and only rarely had to put the pieces of a puzzle together (That I never got)

The dangerous parts, seemed not so dangerous thanks to the female protagonist down to earth bordering violent behaviour.

I also found that I was not at all perturbed by the constant change of POV's in this novel.

Also, it is my opinion that this novel borders on being an erotica (not sure if it was suppose to be), but there were an array of thoroughly explained sex scenes, that I will admit didn't bother me in the least!

Every book has there pros and cons ... this one has me struggling in between. I still haven't quite got my footing on this one yet, but I'd say give it a read, it's not too bad !

Rush by Maya Banks

So ....

After reading a good book, sometimes I get a little carried away and so I try to remain calm before I give my opinion ... kind of let it all sink in! (if you know what I mean)

Anyways ... 

Here we meet Mia Crestwell and Gabe Hamilton ... a dominant billionaire and a fierce kitten!

Sometimes reviews can be helpful, and other times it really is a bad representation of the book.

Before every book I read, I normally read some mix reviews, both bad and good to see what I am getting myself into.

Now I find the reviews on this book to be both good and bad. However, here's my take ...

This book was a conundrum of emotions.

I assure you this is NOT another fifty shades of grey, first off, Mia is a badass while Anastassia is a nerd and a little mousy if you ask me (p.s. I have nothing against Fifty Shades of Grey, I even bought the paperbacks),   and the only thing I see these two books have in common, is a dominant billionaire (thats it!).

Gabe, whilst intense, seems to be more of a newbie to the world of BDSM, if being compared to other erotica especially Fifty Shades. He does have his kinks, but he is not all out domineering when it comes to sex as some dominants I have read about before.

This book is refreshing, exciting and has very mild drama in spite of the storyline and series of events.

Mia shows you how to be a submissive with a voice and throughout the book, that span less than a full year, shows you how to make lemonade when life hands you lemons.

She was never over bearing or tripping over herself in love, and when Gabe realized his love for her, he didn't soften like a cat until the very end, and that I must say was a welcome change.

I love the strength they both portrayed and how they balanced out each other strengths and weaknesses.

Whilst this was a different read with an all too familiar story line, it was well written with few editing errors and mistakes.

However, I didn't like how one minute we were in Mia's POV and mid chapter we switched to Gabe, it confused me a tad and had me re-reading to transition smoothly

Overall though, this was a good read with the right balances to the story. 

I am rarely a fan of third party narrative stories, but I didn't seem to mind this one.

I also really enjoyed the preview to 'Fever' at the end of this book as I really wanna delve into the life of Jace and Ash.

I shall patiently wait on the release of the next two books in the trilogy but I can say my skin is itching to finish this good read!

Breathe by Abbi Glines

Hey Guys!

Tryna get back in the swing of things, so I decided to do the books right after I read them, so I don't lose that momentum!

So here goes ...

As this is a debut novel for Ms. Glines, I don't want to sound too harsh, but neither do I want to soften the blow to an unbelievable low.

Breathe was not breathtaking ...

It's the story of a 17 year old girl who should be more mature for her age, based on her numerous amount of activity in her personal life.

However, she finds herself falling in love (too quickly for my taste) with a teen rock star (who I've only heard soul or pop music from) who is staying in their form of the 'Hamptons' for a summer (yes, literally 2 months!)

This was a shallow, confusing story that had little if any character development.

I hardly knew the protagonist love interest that seem to rule her every breathe. Even with him being present, I just couldn't feel it (Edward and Bella, from the movie part, had more chemistry that these two).

The series of events were scattered, the emotions were flat and I found myself falling asleep alot!

You get a couple laughs here and there, but overall, this story was a bore and very unrealistic if you ask me!

I try not to be a quitter, especially when it comes to books, but this one that I was really anticipating to read, didn't do it for me personally.

If you are into quick love stories, without any intensity, then this is the book for you!

Fall Guy by Liz Reinhardt

What's up ya'll!!

It's been a minute!

So ... Fall Guy by Liz ...

hmmm ....

I'm not gonna lie, I started out a little unsure of this book.

The first few chapters were a complete bore and the conversation was too forced and didn't do it for me.

But once community service started and I notice that Evan wasn't your usual female protagonist, I was all in!

So set in the deep south (I think that's how ya'll call it)

It follows Evan and Winchester (Yes like the gun), as they both find themselves with a push from each other, Winch (as he is called), more than Evan.

Whilst this isn't your usual romantic boy meets girl novel, it has a few elements as well as situations that's rather refreshing and new.

I especially liked how forward Evan was as compared to Winch and how the Youngbloods (Winch's family) handled their home.

I found it strange that at 17, these kids had few parental supervision, but it was still bearable and I loved how the story developed and progress.

With few surprises and a lovely but unexpected ending (on my part atleast), it was a good read and I am glad I gave it a chance, you should too!
